The Impact of ICT Training on Teachers’ Perceptions and Use of the Technology in Education: A Case of Greece

Abstract:

ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has greatly changed contemporary education. The e-tools and the ICT solutions offered enrich learning environments and provide teachers with numerous opportunities. However, even though ICT can enhance education quality, there are many teachers who are unwilling to adjust to the changes brought about by ICT. One of the most crucial inhibitory factors that make teachers reluctant to utilize ICT in education is the lack of their training on ICT. Thus, the purpose of this research paper is to examine the influence of ICT training on teachers’ perceptions and utilization of educational technology in public schools in Greece. The research explores whether the different level of ICT training; ranged from no training to one-year seminar, has an impact on teachers’ beliefs and their willingness to implement ICT into their teaching process. Results are expected to provide tangible insights to help both education community and academia.
