Abstract:
Modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), the internet, urban surveillance, and biometrics have a significant impact on human rights. This impact is dual: both positive and negative, necessitating thorough analysis and appropriate legal regulations. The contemporary legal frameworks in the European Union, such as GDPR and the NIS Directive, aim to protect the privacy and security of users but are insufficient in the face of the dynamic development of technology. In response, the European Commission is working on the AI Act to establish principles for ethical and human rights-compliant use of AI systems.
