Abstract:

The paper provides a patent-based framework investigating the impact of open innovation adoption on patent quality. The work is based on 11,322 patent documents filed by technology hardware & equipment companies from 2000 to 2010. Results show that while external value is positively associated to open innovation, internal value has a negative relation with it.
