The Impact of Structural Intellectual Capital and Information Technology Development on Efficiency of Functioning of Polish Hospitals

Abstract:

Intellectual capital of economic organizations is becoming an increasingly important resource for the organizations' managers. This applies not only to human capital, i.e. the knowledge and skills of employees but also to the so-called structural capital. The article presents the results of research on the impact of the level of development of structural intellectual capital and the level of development of information technologies on the efficiency of functioning of Polish hospitals. A statistical method of modelling structural equations (SEM) was used to analyze the gathered data. Research surveys were sent to randomly selected managers of Polish hospitals. The proposed SEM research model proved to be well matched to the data. The obtained parameters of the model allow the determination of a positive and cause-effect relationship between the tested constructs - variables of the proposed research model.
