Abstract:
In today's market realities, no one doubts that the corona pandemic has affected the European economy. One of the key industries that has clearly felt the effects of the economic crisis is the automotive industry. The situation around COVID-19 is dynamic and due to the strong internationalization of this industry, possible further effects will certainly continue to evolve from a supply shock to a global demand shock. The aim of the research is to present the current challenges to counter the crisis in this difficult economic and social period on the example of the European automotive industry - case study Poland. Therefore, the article presents selected research results on the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on selected segments of the industry. In particular, an attempt was made to identify the changes taking place in the sales and distribution systems of new passenger cars and spare parts, as well as the offered maintenance and repair services. This research may contribute to the faster development of universal solutions in the field of counteracting the crisis by identifying areas requiring adaptation to new market rules. In addition, the presented and interpreted results may be the basis and incentive for further research on the topic related to the impact of the pandemic on this industry in terms of identifying further consequences for both the supply and demand sides.
