The Implementation of Ambidexterity Learning of Innovation Activities in Indigenous Enterprise: The Experience of Lombok Traditional Woven Fabric

Abstract:

Innovation activities should be carried out by every organization not merely to survive but also to develop. To be able to compete with other products, the innovation should have a competitive advantage. This study aims to analyze the learning process of innovation activities in producing Indonesian traditional fabrics, particularly Lombok traditional weaving, by exploring the potential of local wisdom values to enrich unique superior products. Innovation through co-creation activities involving customers, suppliers, and competitors will create a superior value proposition. This process of value creation is a fundamental source of innovation to create regional competitive advantage. This study applied mixed methods by concurrently combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The locus of the study is the woven fabric of Bayan in Lombok. The findings show that the learning process of innovation activities at the level of indigenous enterprise occurs in the form of alignment and adaptability as well as ambidexterity practice both in exploratory and exploitative means of innovation learning activities.
