Abstract:
Next-generation technologies offer the theatre industry an opportunity to improve its efficiency and thereby address the paradoxes associated with theatre operations, particularly in terms of funding. At the same time, the technological transformation of theatre institutions is associated with numerous constraints that affect the pace and effectiveness of the implementation processes initiated. Therefore, theatres interested in implementing next technologies should be aware of the implementation risks so that they can plan measures in advance to minimise their impact. The existing literature does not provide sufficient data in this regard; consequently, it is necessary to explore this field of research.
The aim of the study is to determine the importance of factors limiting the implementation of next-generation technologies in theatres. The study employed the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method, which was used to compare and rank a set of implementation constraints identified in a separate study. The catalogue of factors used was divided into four categories: economic constraints, institutional constraints, technological and infrastructural constraints, and constraints at the level of competence and organisational culture.
