Abstract:
The teaching profession is more than just work, it is a unique social role that should only be performed by properly prepared people with not only accurate education background, but also appropriate personality traits and moral and ethical attitudes. Nowadays, being a teacher in Polish schools is extremely demanding, it is influenced by many factors ranging from continuous transformation of the education system, parents’ requirements, students’ respect, considerable amount of administrative work and inadequate remuneration in relation to the work performed. Therefore, it is quite challenging to motivate teachers both those with short and long seniority. Unquestionably, the level of motivation alone does not mean that one is a good teacher. It is largely determined by professional competences e.g. knowledge and skills that teachers possess and acquire throughout the entire period of career. Factors affecting motivation effectiveness are verified based on the survey and interview tools. The research was conducted among teachers of selected primary schools in the Opolskie Voivodeship.
