Abstract:

This paper investigates the influence which collocation has on team effectiveness. The main purpose is to explore those aspects relating to the collocated environment which may provide insights into the optimaldesign of a collocated working environment. This research was conducted using a sample of collocated agile software development teams that were all adopting the SCRUM approach to software development. The key findings relate to the impact of noise and interruptions, the need for break-away areas and the design of a radically collocated working environment.
