Abstract:
The study's main objective is to empirically examine the relationship between dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation and social and economic performance in the research context of cultural institutions. A model of the relationships was developed based on extensive literature. An empirical study was conducted for 74 public theatres and music institutions based in Poland. Evidence is found that proactiveness is the critical entrepreneurial dimension for both the social and economic performance of theaters and music institutions. Furthermore, the findings suggest that although innovativeness does not improve performance, the link between risk-taking and economic performance is significant. The study also discusses practical implications, limitations, and future directions.
