The influence of ICT on project success of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is the influence of information and communication technology (ICT) on project success of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic. Nowadays, information technology is a key component of all corporate processes. In order to test the hypothesis concerning the direct correlation between the level of ICT and project success, we used the data obtained by questionnaire survey in SMEs in the Czech Republic. By using chi-square test of independence in the contingency table and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, we have demonstrated a very weak positive correlation between the factors stated above. Growth of the complexity of ICT does not increase the success of implemented projects. Human and financial resources in SMEs are limited and therefore it is not possible to effectively use advanced ICT in order to increase project success.
