The Influence of Technical and Non Technical Factors on Knowledge Sharing in the Private Sector in Malaysia

Abstract:

           Knowledge sharing is important in organization. It is a basic human daily activity to create opportunities in maximizing the capability of company to achieve performance. Nevertheless, most study reported that employees are reluctant to share knowledge. Many factors influencing knowledge sharing in organization were identified from different perspectives to solve the problem. Upon a critical review on factors affecting knowledge sharing, this paper proposes a conceptual framework that takes into consideration two capable factors influencing knowledge sharing among employees in the private organizations in Malaysia; technical factor which refers to technology influence and non technical factor which refers to individual and organizational influence. Theories related to knowledge sharing are applied to support the constructs identified in developing a fit model. This study will be followed by an empirical study to test the hypothesis and to validate the model. This study will help to improve the understanding on factors influencing knowledge sharing in organizations and knowledge sharing capability in improving organizational performance, specifically among employees in the private sector.
