The Influence of the Associative Forms in the Development of the Romanian Agriculture during the Last Century

Abstract:

Agriculture is an important link of the economy. Given the vast land resources owned, the productive potential of Romanian agriculture is huge. According to the data published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Romania was among the top producers of sunflower, wheat and maize from the European Union in 2017. The issues of the agriculture, such as massive fragmentation of agricultural holdings, lack of a functional irrigation system or lack of technology have ranked Romania on the last places from Europe from the point of view of the agricultural yield and the quality of the harvested crops. Through this scientific approach, there is carried out an empirical study over the evolution of the Romanian agriculture during the last century. The study covers the main events that have contributed to the current situation of agriculture. Following the study, we attempted to present the main problems faced by the Romanian agriculture during the interwar and modern period. Lands fragmentation and reluctance to choose an associative form for the efficient land management have remained issues that persisted during the period analyzed. We consider the work as being useful for researchers through systematization of information and establishment of a documentary basis for a further wider research.
