Abstract:
The ever-growing importance of business informatics has brought in, among others, new and alternative research opportunities in all sectors of the economy. ICT has changed the way we work with information, as well as a number of business processes and activities. The importance of ICT considerably increases, and can, at least partially, affect macroeconomic variables, and vice versa. The dynamic development of the economy certainly has an effect on ICT spending and investment. The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of the development of the business cycle onICT spending and investment in the Czech Republic. The secondary objective is to describe the factors that contributed to the observed trend. The analyzed data were taken from the Czech Statistical Office that collects all the necessary information. Using statistical analysis of a two-dimensional data set, I have calculated the correlation coefficient and found out that GDP has an impact on ICT spending and investment. The key factors that affect the amount of ICTspending include, besidesthe GDP indicator,in particular expenditure rationalization during strategic planning,and new trends that are further described in the conclusion of this paper.
