The Internet in the World: Statistical Analysis of Availability

Abstract:

Results of the statistical analysis of the indicators characterizing availability of the Internet in the world in general of the countries and also macro-regions are presented in article. The statistical analysis of dynamics of the indicators characterizing availability of the Internet in the world is carried out from 2000 to 2016. The comparative analysis of the indicators characterizing availability of the Internet in the certain countries of the world is carried out on three various periods from 2000 to 2015 (the 15-year, 10-year and 5-year periods). The uneven nature of development of the analysed indicators is shown. The main trends of this development are revealed. With use of empirical data it is established what the most developed region from the point of view of security with Internet resources is European, and the most backward — African. The greatest rupture of values of the analysed indicator is characteristic of the countries of the Asian region. The essential variation between more safe and less prosperous countries of the Avstralo-Okeaniysky region is also revealed. The analysis of number and structure of Internet users has shown that the greatest number of Internet users is concentrated on the Asian region, the second for the number of Internet users is the American region, the third — the European region. In work, it is noted also that now the essential gap in availability, quality and applicability of Internet technologies in developed and developing countries remains.
