Abstract:
This article focuses on brownfield issues in the Czech Republic. The article focuses on the Moravian-Silesian and Zlín regions where several indicators have been selected for this research to help identify differences or links between these regions and their brownfields. The article contains a theoretical background with references to experts and their research in this field. For Brownfields research, a brownfield database has been created, based on which the selected regions can be compared in the area of abandoned buildings. Based on the comparison of brownfields between the Moravian-Silesian Region and the Zlín Region, it is clear that there are 294 brownfields within these two regions which were most frequently used in the field of industry and agriculture or amenities. The biggest problem is the fact that the overwhelming majority of brownfields are privately owned, with owners not interested in or lacking funds for their renovation or maintenance.
