Abstract:
The article attempts to address the issues of contemporary investments located in the technical and protective zone along the Southern Baltic coast of Poland. Identifying a location for the construction of an offshore wind farm service base is, on one hand, a component of the country's security strategy, and on the other hand, a crucial part of the overall investment, which should be based on economic estimates.
The main goal of the article is a comparative analysis of the developmental potential of ports on the Central Coast of Poland in the context of implementing service bases for offshore wind farms. The research problem focuses on the infrastructural accessibility of the ports along Poland's Central Coast. The research hypothesis is formulated as the statement that the development potential and transport accessibility of a port significantly influence the development of wind farms, including the onshore service base.
The study employs research methods and tools focused on secondary analysis of literature sources and statistical data, as well as the case study method applied to the ports of Kołobrzeg, Darłowo, and Ustka. This approach enabled an analysis of the functional characteristics of each port and an assessment of their infrastructure and infrastructural accessibility.
The final conclusions and discussion presented in the paper focus on providing answers related to the implementation of a service base in the Southern Baltic, associated with the construction of a new offshore wind farm in the areas of the Słupsk Bank, Central Bank, and Oder Bank, as well as selecting the optimal location based on the criteria set by the investor.
