Abstract:

The complexity of spatial data and of the spatial relationships, limits the effectiveness of conventional data mining techniques for extracting spatial patterns. The goal of this paper is to analyse the main theoretical and practical approaches regarding the applicability of geospatial data mining for economic analysis and later to generate a pilot case study dealing with a decision support system for fiscal zoning policy based on data from Oradea Municipality, Romania. In this regard one of the main objectives of the study is to identify the possibilities of using spatial data mining for property taxation modelling.
