The Mediating Role of National Culture in The Relationship Between Total Quality Management and Performance at The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority

Abstract:

Total Quality Management or TQM is an integrative organizational-wide management philosophy that is aimed at continuously improving the quality of processes, products and services by focusing on, meeting or exceeding customer expectations in order to enhance customer satisfaction and organizational performance. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the mediation role of the national culture between the TQM dimensions and performance. Therefore, a survey questionnaire was distributed to senior employee and managers at the at The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority. The results show that there is significant positive relationship between the TQM practice dimensions and performance. Pawer distance, uncertainty avoidance and Individualism mediate the relationship between the TQM and performance. Although dose not mediate the relationship between customer focus and performance. This study will contribute in the existing literature in the area.
