The Mediation Role of Behaviour Intention on Performance Expectancy and Actual Use of E-learning: A Cause study of Higher College of Technology in Abu Dhabi

Abstract:

Electronic learning or also well-known as e-learning is an innovative approach to education delivery through electronic forms of information that improve the learner’s knowledge, skills, or other performance. Therefore, this study examined the influence of Performance Expectancy (PE) on Actual Use of e-learning (AU) throughout the mediating role of Behavioural Intention (BI) to use e-learning among Higher College of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi. In this quantitative study, a structured survey questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale was used to collect data from a total of 406 respondents from HCT’s students. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the hypotheses. Prior to structural modeling, the validity and reliability of the measurement and the structural models were ascertained. Findings show that there was a substantial mediation effect of Behavioural Intention to Use e-learning in the relationship between Performance Expectancy on Actual Use of e-learning. The findings contribute to the extant literature by integrating the factors that could improve Actual Use of e-learning. Based on the findings of the research study, it was recommended that Higher College of Technology institution and to other institutions in United Arab Emirate to encourage their students to adopt more in e-learning. As shows in this results, it is an evidence that students are willing to used e-learning applications in their study activities. Furthermore, the implications for future researchers and limitation of the study were also discussed.
