Abstract:
The article formulates two research objectives. The first is to identify the spatial diversity in the number of insured foreigners in Poland. The second objective is to assess the impact of foreign workers on labour market performance across different sectors of the economy. In the study of the structure and dynamics of the number of insured persons, selected methods of descriptive statistics were used. The added value of the work is the presentation of research results at individual levels of data aggregation (communes, poviats, voivodships). The article enriches knowledge and develops discussion in the area of preventing shortages in the labour market, as well as answers essential questions related to current and future challenges in this area. Research shows that foreigners working in Poland come from over 200 countries, but the largest group, about 70% of the total number of insured foreigners, are citizens of Ukraine. Foreigners work in virtually all areas of our economy. Despite their steady growth in the Polish labour market, many staff shortages still occur.
