Abstract:
Contemporary organizations are changing, and the field of organizational behavior is changing with them. As well, the organizational design models have evolved substantially as the foundational theories of organizational behavior have been developed. However, under conditions of complexity, organizations still need rethinking their fundamental design principles. Following a close examination of the questions which principles of the organization design are influenced most by the changes contemporary organizations are undergoing? and how these principles can be portrayed as an integrated model? We identified a set of core principles that we consider as required to address the organization designing and managing in today’s turbulent and fast changing world. This set of core principles forms the basis of a holistic framework and a generic model tailored to investigate the organization design domain and provide actionable insights. The Generic Organization Modeling Framework (GenOM) aims to deliver a new point of reference for the next shift underlying the organization modeling and come up with an advanced framework that can allow for practical mechanisms leading to organizational success.
