Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to identify peculiarities of agrarian structures from Romania. The agrarian structures are the effect of agrarian relations and they include the land fund, the types of farms and agricultural markets. The agrarian structures, through its features, determine the performance and competitiveness of agriculture as economic branch. For example, farm size affects the access to inputs, technology, productivity and economic efficiency. The importance of research results from the fact that it shows an overview of agriculture in Romania and it can substantiates the decisions at macroeconomic level (agricultural policy measures) and microeconomic level (investment decision or disinvestment). The paper also represents a reference source for students, researchers and other persons interested in comparative and dynamics studies of agrarian structures in Europe. The used research method is the diagnostic analysis and comparative analysis. The diagnostic analysis of agrarian structures highlights and characterizes the development of agriculture at a time. The results highlight the peculiarities of agrarian structures, from the following points of view: 1) agricultural resources (for example, the total agricultural area, the usable agricultural area, the agricultural area structure by category of use, the agricultural land quality, the livestock etc.); 2) typology of farms (the average size of farm, the technical capital, the farm structure by size and production lines); 3) the structure of agricultural production; 4) the suppliers of agricultural inputs (biological material, fertilizers, technology, capital, etc.); 5) the economic efficiency of agricultural production (total production, average production, revenues, costs and profitability). By correlating the results, the authors highlight the relationships created between economic resources (natural resources, labor resources, capital resources, etc.), factors of production (capital, labor, etc.), agrarian structures and overall conditions of agricultural production economy.
