Abstract:
This paper discusses the principal barriers and hindrances of conducting an IT/IS evaluation in private organisations in Saudi Arabia. The primary data and information on IT/IS evaluation practices were obtained by means of survey questionnaires and interviews. The sample organisations were drawn from the databases of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Questionnaires were distributed to 200 private organisations. In addition, 24 IT/IS managers were interviewed from separate private organisations believing this would be sufficient for the purpose of gaining a deeper understanding about IT/IS evaluation process and its factors that influence it. This paper seeks to identify the factors of the IS/IT evaluation which they influence the practices and procedures of conducting evaluation. The study concludes with the identification of a number of factors that have a clear influence on IT/IS evaluation in Saudi private organisations.
