Abstract:
The financial sector is in the process of fundamental transformation caused by the financial crisis, the new regulatory architecture and the technology revolution. The consequence of these shifts is the appearance of fine-tech players in the banking sector. They are increasingly competing with traditional banks, and the offer of innovative digital solutions is a major challenge for them. In the specialist literature, there are different names of the fintechs operating in the banking sector, which are used interchangeably. The aim of the articles is to present the most frequently applied classifications in relation to fintech entities. On the analysis of the literature and case studies, it has been proposed to classify these institutions and to identify their features. The analysis of the prepared case studies allows to verify the research hypothesis: there is no single, universal way of establishment of new, digital banking institutions.
