Abstract:
The article analyzes the correlation between competition and the savings obtained in medical equipments and pharmaceutical products public procurement in Romania. The competition environment in public procurement around the world was analysed by many other authors, who established that there was an inverse correlation between the number of tenders received and the last price. Furthermore, it has been found that the decrease in the offered price stops after receiving a specific number of offers. This study aims to refute / confirm the two mentioned conclusions and to establish the number of offers after that the price no longer decreases in the case of 300 lots of the procurement procedures carried out in Romania between 17.01.2015 - 02.10.2018 concerning the supply of medical equipments and pharmaceutical products.
