The Relationship between COVID-19 Pandemic, Healthcare System, Corporate Governance and Firm Performance in Developing Countries : An Empirical Analysis

Abstract:

Using financial data from 30 Tunisian financial institutions between 2019 and 2020, we assessed the impact of the COVID-19 on business performance. We show how operational performance degrades during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the findings, the healthcare system, financial development, and corporate governance all have a negative impact on financial performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The negative effects of COVID-19 on business performance are less pronounced in countries where conditions are better. Better institutions, more sophisticated financial and healthcare systems.
