Abstract:
Starting from the analysis of official documents, historical and legal studies, as well as press materials, the present study offers o complete reflection of the State-religious denominations relations in post-revolutionary Romania.
Once a democratic regime has been established, religious cults have benefited in Romania with clear and protective constitutional clarifications, a proper law, a well-defined statute and material state support, as reparations or compensations for the communist persecution, including financially. Thus, in addition to their own sources of funding, the cults benefit from state subsidies, but also indirect support, materialized in the exemption from the payment of certain taxes and duties. Compared with EU countries, Romania has the widest variety of ways to fund religious denominations.
