The Relationship between Transformational Leadership and Employees’ Job Satisfaction among Academic Staff in UAE Private Universities

Abstract:

The higher education institutions are gradually concentrating on developing transformational leadership in their leaders due to the leading to better institutional performance. Earlier studies initiated that leadership styles are important institutional antecedents particularly in manipulating employees’ job satisfaction. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the association between transformational leadership and employee's job satisfaction among academic staff in UAE private higher education. A total of 120 set of questionnaire were collected from Academic Staff in five private universities in UAE. The result showed that there is a strong positive linear relationship between transformational leadership and employees' job satisfaction (r = 0.813, p-value < 0.005). Therefore, it is significant to comprehend the features of leadership towards employees' job satisfaction in the meantime it will affect employees' optimism and performance. The contribution of this study will assist leaders to develop their leadership skills as to increase employees' job satisfaction. The higher educational management can integrate the research findings by determining effective leader in such a way to increase the overall level of job satisfaction of their employees.
