The Richness of Social Media

Abstract:

There exists a wide range of media in everyday’s life, ranging from classical ones, such as newspaper or television, to new digital media, like Social Media. Facing Social Media from the viewpoint of communication, there are several questions, which will be analyzed by the authors in the present research work. One of the questions is: Which Social Media foster communication to which extent? And taking into account the wellknown media richness theory, this paper analyzes which degree of media richness each Social Media actually shows. Finally, the question if a correlation between the degree of fostering communication and the degree ofmedia richness exists will be discussed.
