The Risk of Using Internet and Mobile Banking Services from the Perspective of Polish Representatives of the Baby Boomer, X, Y, Z Generations

Abstract:

The purpose of the article is to present the approach to the risk of using internet and mobile banking services and also the tools and activities aimed at reducing it by Polish representatives of the Baby Boomer, X, Y, Z generations. Based on the analysis and interpretation of the research findings conducted on a nationwide sample and covering the members of the distinguished populations, the following first research hypothesis was refuted: the representatives of the analysed generations show both a diversified level of openness towards technological innovations and the acceptance of the related risk (H I), whereas the following two hypotheses were verified: the representatives of the analysed generations show a diversified use of internet and mobile banking services (H II), and the representatives of the analysed generations show a diversified approach to the activities reducing the risk of using internet and mobile banking services (H III). The accuracy assessment of the formulated hypotheses was based on the identification of the respondents’ attitudes to new technologies and the related risks, the declared use of internet and mobile banking services, as well as the tools and activities used by the people under study aimed at reducing the risks related to the discussed form of banking.
