The Role of e-Sales in the Establishment of the Information Society

Abstract:

The rapid and dynamic development of information and communication technologies has led to the transformation of the economy into an information economy. Information has become an important production factor and new ways of acquiring, processing and transmitting it have brought about a change in the methods of concluding transactions on the market. E-commerce, which includes e-sales, is becoming increasingly important. It makes transactions shorter, more convenient and ensures the comparability of offers from outside the place of customers’ residence at lower costs. New purchasing opportunities from enterprises offering their products online contributes to building the information society. The aim of the article, therefore, is to identify the structure of the European Union countries with respect to e-sales and to indicate the role of e-sales in shaping the information society.
