Abstract:
In today’s business environment, most organizations are facing significant pressure to make their operational, tactical, and strategic processes more efficient and effective. Information technology (IT) has become an attractive means of improving these processes. As result, organizations have implemented several to improve effectiveness and to enhance efficiencies through the use of IT. Electronic Trading System (ETS) which is trading via the Internet in the buying and selling of shares is implemented in Oman at Muscat Securities Market The purpose of this study was to provide the benefits and the challenges of using Electronic Trading System (ETS) in Oman in form the decision makers’ perspective (such as administrative staff and securities brokerage companies). Data was collected through some interviews which had been conducted and a questionnaire from users of ETS in Muscat Securities Market in Oman. The result of the analysis show that the users of ETS are gaining many benefits which are ease of use, accuracy of the ETS and supports decision making in the work place. In addition, the obstacles that are facing ETS users are internet problems, technical problems and good IT background.
