The Role of Innovative IT Systems Based on GPS Services in Human Resource Management Processes – A Case Study Selected Sports Discipline

Abstract:

The article presents research on the role of innovative IT systems based on GSP services in human resource management processes on the example of a selected sport discipline. The literature on the subject emphasizes that the issues of human capital management are not limited to the enterprises and management staff themselves. A noticeable trend is to transfer the issues of human capital management to other organizational forms - sports clubs and coaching staff. In the case of sports coaches, one of the key tasks is management by monitoring physical parameters. Nowadays, this process uses data obtained through innovative services and information technologies based on positioning systems. The analyzed match data was collected using the innovative CATAPULT IT system equipped with GPS transmitters. The research concerned one of the key parameters of the evaluation performed by trainers - running intensity depending on the phase of the game.  The study covered players of the highest football league in Poland in the fall of the 2018/2019 season. The aim of the article is to verify the hypothesis that attackers in the attack phase cover longer distances on average than in the defense phase. Furthermore, are the distance traveled in the intense races and the maximum speeds achieved higher in the first or the second half of the match? This research is an important contribution to the literature, providing cutting-edge information not only on the aspects of human resource management but also in the field of data analysis and use in training methods. Being an important element of R&D for professional trainers.
