Abstract:
Intellectual capital is a resource that is nowadays an indispensable element of the market game. The article shows how family businesses in Poland perceive organizational capital as part of intellectual capital. The main aim is to discuss whether the appropriate use of structural capital in surveyed family organizations may lead to their development. The considerations were based on a literature analysis and on own research carried out on a group of 167 small and medium family enterprises. The study is therefore a cognitive query in the field of intellectual capital with special focus on organizational capital. Characteristics of a family character are undoubtedly reflected in the organizational capital and enable effective management of organizational capital. Research and analyzes confirm that coexistence of organizational culture, identity, competent employees, information infrastructure and good relations between the company and internal and external stakeholders is important.
