The Role of Residents’ Knowledge on the Quality of Life in Destination Sustainability Process in Kazakhstan (A Case of One Road One Belt Initiative)

Abstract:

The leaders and investigators of One Belt One Road (OBOR) in Kazakhstan are trying to promote tourism in order to develop the socio-economic aspects of the country. By considering the important role of tourism in the given context, this study tends to investigate the role of residents’ knowledge and its impact on their quality of life with special attention in the process of destination sustainability. For this purpose, the given study used the “Progressive Literature Review” to observe the development of scientific research into sustainable tourism. The study found that the role of the residents’ knowledge has a positive impact on tourism development. Furthermore, it was noted that the residents’ positive perception and support towards tourism enhanced their quality of life. Based on these findings, future research directions are explained, and possible strategies are developed for the OBOR policymakers and government officials.
