Abstract:

This paper presented the preliminary findings of a research investigating the activities of Enterprise Architecture (EA) in Malaysia. EA provides a strategic context for the evolution of the IT system in response to the constantly changing needs of the business environment. The research embarks on the following objectives: (1) to assess EA activities in Malaysian organizations; and (2) to investigate the importance of EA in those organizations. A survey study method using questionnaire was used to collect empirical evidences. The respondents were participants in an EA seminar in Kuala Lumpur. The data collected was then analyzed based on the following factors: (1) EA business issues; (2) EA environment; (3) EA governance; and (4) EA methods, tools and frameworks. The findings presented in this paper is still in its preliminary phase as of the writing of this paper, however it provides insights of EA activities in Malaysia.
