The Selected Aspects of Polish Seniors’ Tourism – Qualitative Approach

Abstract:

The phenomena of ageing society in the most developed countries and the increase in proportion of the elderly in the total population makes it necessary to take an interest in seniors’ tourist activity. The majority of previous studies conducted on this segment of tourist market present quantative approach. What is of great need, for both cognitive and practical reasons, is to conduct the in-depth analysis of seniors' tourism activity in terms of time and space, which can contribute to a better understanding of their behaviour. Therefore, the author applied the Focused Group Interviews method which, despite its limited possibilities of generalising the results obtained on the seniors' population, allows to better understand their tourist behaviour. It applies the relationships among the particular factors influencing seniors’ tourist behaviours including themes, organisational conditions, opportunities and constraints as well as spatial aspects.
