Abstract:

In this study I will show that the bioeconomy involves a multitude of factors and actors whose collaboration depends on its success. Most of the times, the bioeconomy starts from the available resources, and its development can be influenced by the accumulation of new knowledge generated by the research-innovation projects. In the development process, the EU has identified a series of major social challenges whose resolution the bioeconomy can also contribute  to a great extent.

In order to support the development of the European Union, bioeconomy must establish a balance between economic growth, social development and environmental protection, which are essential components of sustainable development.
