The Transgressions of Michel Foucault’s Concept. Discipline – Supervision – Safety

Abstract:

The issue of the power, discipline, supervision and their relationship to security is unquestionably of interest to social sciences, including security sciences. Michel Foucault, as the undisputed theoretician of the mechanisms of authority, presents a wide range of its concepts. One of them, an analysis of authority and discipline, based on the Panopticon concept of prison by Jeremy Bentham, confirms the validity of the meaning of panoptism in contemporary scientific reflection. In particular, this concerns research into surveillance mechanisms and the use of the opportunities that the state gives to ensure the safety of individuals.
