Abstract:
While text occupies an important place on websites, this exploratory study provides a current state of play of the use of different fonts by French websites. Based on a review of pioneering works, and a typographical audit of 58 websites, this exploratory research discusses the main typeface chosen by theses website’s designers and establishes a connection with theoretical works on typography. Our findings highlight a real gap between designer's practices and our theoretical review of the literature. Thus, we try to explain this gap and also provide ideas for future researches, in order to reduce it.
