Abstract:
Co-ordinate measuring technology is slowly becoming the standard in many fields of technology, especially in the automotive and aviation industries. However, for most, it is still a little-known technique. This comes as a result of the lack of relevant courses being taughtin the universities, which might usefully introduce this subject in the teaching process. This article presents an example of the scanning and verification process of the car compressor which facilitated verification of the accuracy in the manufacture of this automotive part and an assessment of the effectiveness of using 3D measurements in production engineering.
