The Use of Reverse Engineering in a Plastics Processing Company

Abstract:

This paper presents the problem of using reverse engineering processes to increase the production capacity of a plastics processing company. In this study, a reverse engineering process was implemented for an electric cordless screwdriver housing that was made by implementing a plastic injection moulding process. A complete process of reconstructing the geometry of an object and making a numerical model, which can be used to build an injection mould and realize the production process with its use, is presented. The final part of the paper presents the estimated costs of implementing an analogous process on a mass scale in a plastics processing company.
