The Use of the Concept of Multi-level Governance in the Development of Tourist Destinations – A Case Study of the Pomeranian Voivodeship (Poland)

Abstract:

The paper investigates the use of the notion of multi-level governance in the development of destinations. The purpose of this article is to define the major characteristics of this concept and to present how it is applied in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, which is located on the Polish side of the Baltic Sea coast. The paper emphasizes the importance of strategies and strategic programs as tools for tourism development. Furthermore, organizational options for successful stakeholder collaboration and optimal use of the region's tourist potential were presented.
