Abstract:

Popularization and improvement of renewable energy sources are main goals of current European and Polish strategy of energy development. The increasing number of low-emission installations, that use alternative energy carriers aims for reducing harmful influence of energy sector on the state of the natural environment. The growing demand for electricity, as well as the growing ecological awareness of the society contribute to the advancement of installations using renewable energy sources, including photovoltaic systems. In the following article problems related to profitability such installations are presented using means of financial modeling. The financial models allow to study profitability of many different solutions in every economic area, also in the area of investing in photovoltaic installations. However, the dynamic development has generated problems, the main aspect of which is energy storage. In this article an attempt was made to assess the economic justification for the creation of home energy storage and their profitability in the current economic conditions.
