TiER: A Serious Game for Training in Emergency Scenarios

Abstract:

Training is widely accepted as a key feature in the success of organizational tasks, and emergency management is no exception. In fact, adequate training has been found to be closely related to an effective disaster response. In this context, the stakeholders perception of safety is a challenge for organizations, and adequate training could ensure their correct participation in the different activities of the emergency plan. In this paper, we propose a serious game for training stakeholders to respond to emergency events, designed to optimize the costs involved.

For this we developed a tool to validate the proposal through an experiment on a group of workers. The results obtained were found to make good assessments of the learning objectives and showed that the system contributed to improving continuous training.
