Abstract:
The processes and problems related with the planning and development of tourist destinations can be developed either theoretical or practical and have to be focused depending on specific issues from a tourist area. The tourism in a region need to be seen from a perspective point of view, and have to include all the aspects regarding tourism services, visitor attractions management, destinations management or destinations marketing, the balance between demand and offer of tourism services. The development of tourism in a region or in a county can be made starting with elaboration of a tourism strategy, based on research methods that can provide the best solutions for this purpose. The tourism is not related only with business operations. It implies social aspects, so need to be seen also as social phenomena. For this paper we studied the tourism development in the county Brăila, from the South Region of Development - Romania. Based on national and regional statistical data base, we conducted an analysis of tourist traffic on tourism supply and demand by calculating the most representative tourism indicators: average daily number of tourists, the number of overnight stays, average length of stay, tourist traffic density and the rate of use of accommodation capacity, and other indicators characteristics.
