Tourism Sustainable Development in the Center Region of Romania

Abstract:

Spatial planning based on sustainable development, is a functional complex that maintains the quality of life of the population and is the part of the national wealth enjoyed by all citizens. Sustainable development and promotion of tourism are based on measures aimed primarily to establish sustainable valorization for cultural heritage and natural resources with tourism potential. It also aims to improve the quality of accommodation and leisure tourist infrastructure in order to increase the attractiveness of regions, local economies and create new jobs. In this way the regions, areas and localities identifies and strengthens their own identity and improve their competitive advantage in sectors with high added value and high qualitative and cognitive content, both on traditional and emergent markets. Analysis of tourist traffic in a zone is one of the primary elements in order to establish sustainable development strategies in tourism. Thus we perform an analysis of tourist traffic, capacity and tourism activity in two districts of the Central Region, namely Covasna and Harghita County. Analysis tourism indicators will be based on the data provided by National Institute of Statistic from Romania.
