Abstract:

An advanced practice of social care of the elderly comprises multiple aspects. One of the important measures is creating comfortable living conditions where elderly citizens can enjoy an improved lifestyle and lead a self-fulfilling life. In this study we aimed to understand an attitude of potential residents towards specialized housing for elderly. We were able to identify types of housing where elderly citizens are willing to reside by means of analysis of literature and expert opinions, a survey of elderly citizens in Russia, and visits to existing housing units for the elderly in Tatarstan, Russia. The results of our study may be in interest to real estate market players who work on development of new segments in the real estate market.
