Towards the Perception of the Concept “Responsible Research and Innovation” in Russia: Tomsk’s Case

Abstract:

It is important to take into account the national context when implementing technology assessment (TA) and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) ideas in practice. Undoubtedly, RRI has a number of universal tasks and tools. In this regard, TA- Networks and RRI overcome national and disciplinary barriers. The scope of research is to reveal how the stakeholders in the science and innovation system of Tomsk region (Russia) perceive RRI principles and reflect upon them on current stage. The results of the study showed that none of the participants has heard of RRI concept from the very beginning of the interview but has found elements and hints to the meaning of it in the process of talking. All of the stakeholders by the end of the interview stated that education of the RRI principles is absolutely necessary on different steps of researcher’s career from students to recognized scientists.
